Country’s exports at mere Rs 63.20B, trade deficit at Rs 579 Billion

Exports in the country continue to decline, with a total export value of Rs 63.20 billion for the period from mid-July to mid-December. This accounts for just 8.96% of the overall trade. According to Nepal Trade Statistics unveiled by the Department of Customs (DoC), imports during the review period amounted to Rs 642.20 billion, representing 91.81% of the total trade, signifying a total trade deficit for the review period at Rs 579 Billion. Comparing this to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year, the share of exports in total trade has decreased by 2.50%, while the share of imports has seen a 0.25% increase. In the preceding fiscal year’s equivalent review period, the country had exported goods valued at Rs 67.30 billion, marking a decrease of 6.09%. Concurrently, imports totaled around Rs 664.74 billion, reflecting an overall decrease of 3.39%. The total foreign trade during this period was Rs 705.41 billion, indicating a 3.64% decrease compared to the same review period in the previous year, which had recorded Rs 732.05 billion.
